“This significant investment of federal funds will help the UT Health Science Center stay at the forefront of medical research,” said Congressman Cohen.

[WASHINGTON, DC] – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced that Seedco has been awarded $1,407,172 in new federal funding to continue efforts to provide in-person assistance to Memphis-area residents shopping for and enrolling in health insurance plans through the Affordable Care Act’s insurance marketplace this fall. This funding comes through the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ Navigator grant program.
[MEMPHIS, TN] – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced $148,885 in federal funding for violent gang and gun violence reduction efforts in Memphis. This funding comes through the U.S. Department of Justice’s (DOJ) Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) Program, which facilitates collaborative efforts between local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies and other community members to implement initiatives aimed at gang violence and gun crime reduction, prevention and intervention.

“I was saddened to learn of the latest video purporting to show the execution by ISIS of journalist Steven Sotloff. If it proves true, the beheading of a second American journalist is further proof that ISIS, with a desire to create a caliphate, is a threat to America and to democracy everywhere.”
