[MEMPHIS, TN] – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced that the Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) Business Center in Memphis has been awarded $250,000 in federal funds to boost job creation and retention as well as foster the economic growth of minority businesses throughout the Ninth District. Congressman Cohen worked for several years to secure funding for the MBDA Business Center in Memphis.

[MEMPHIS, TN] – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced his introduction of H.R. 4471, the Growth Zones Opportunity Act, which would help spur job creation and economic revitalization in distressed areas by renewing tax incentives for designated “Renewal Communities” like Memphis as well as designated “Empowerment Zones” through the end of this decade. These tax incentives were successful in alleviating the damage caused by decades of underinvestment in downtrodden communities, but have expired in recent years and Congress has so far failed to renew them.

[MEMPHIS, TN] – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced that $4,368,290 in federal funds has been awarded to the City of Memphis and 13 local non-profit organizations to help end homelessness in the Ninth District. This funding comes through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) Continuum of Care program, which is designed to promote communitywide commitment to the goal of ending homelessness.

[WASHINGTON, DC] – Congressman Steve Cohen (D-TN-09) today announced that President Obama has issued a Major Disaster Declaration for the State of Tennessee due to the Severe Winter Storms experienced across the state from March 2-4, 2014. All counties in the State of Tennessee are eligible to apply for assistance under the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program, administered by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
