WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Steve Cohen (D-TN-9) today announced that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has awarded the University of Tennessee Health Science Center a grant worth $438,932 to expand research projects for heart and vascular diseases. This new federal funding will be distributed by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI).

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Steve Cohen (D-TN-9) today announced that the U.S. Housing and Urban Development Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (HUD-VASH) program has awarded the Memphis Housing Authority $232,782 to supply permanent housing and case management to homeless veterans.

MEMPHIS, TN, July 14, 2011 – The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has announced the awarding of more than $6.2 million in national environmental workforce development and job training grants to 21 grantees to recruit, train, and place unemployed, predominantly low-income residents in polluted areas.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Steve Cohen (D-TN-9) today offered an amendment to the Clean Water Cooperative Federalism Act of 2011 (H.R. 2018) that would ensure the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) maintains its existing authority to regulate pipelines crossing streambeds. The Cohen measure was accepted and added to the bill.
