WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09), a senior member of the Judiciary Committee who was in the House chamber when insurrectionists attempted to disrupt certification of the Electoral College vote on January 6, 2021, today voted for the Presidential Election Reform Act.

The vote on passage was 229 to 203.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09), who has championed efforts to protect horses for decades, today applauded the Energy and Commerce Committee’s markup and advancement of his Prevent All Soring Tactics (PAST) Act to prohibit the intentional injury to the hooves and legs of performance walking horses such as Tennessee's iconic walking horses. His bill passed out of the committee markup and was reported to the full House of Representatives with a bipartisan vote of 46 to 9.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced two grants addressing mental health and substance abuse from the Department of Health and Human Services. Downtown Memphis Ministry Inc. will receive $349,721 for its Shelby Veterans Treatment Court Enhancement Project from the Center for Substances Abuse Treatment. Alliance Healthcare Services will receive $1 million for its Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic from the Center for Mental Health Services.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced that the City of Memphis will receive two grants totaling $2,771,378 from the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) Assistance to Firefighters Program. One grant of $1,680,469 is for operations and safety. The other, of $1,090,909, is for vehicle acquisition.
