"Phil Trenary was a civic leader and businessman, and was extremely important to the City of Memphis. He was totally immersed in the Memphis community, both as a celebrant and as a contributor. He will be missed. My thoughts go out to his family."

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) applauded today's Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee passage of his bill to rename the facility at 1325 Autumn Avenue as "The Judge Russell B. Sugarmon Post Office." The Senate committee's action clears the way for consideration by the full Senate.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) applauded House passage of the Music Modernization Act, a bill that updates provisions of federal copyright law to account for the transformation of the music industry by the internet, music streaming and smart phones. It also expands federal copyright protection to pre-1972 sound recordings to ensure that legacy artists are appropriately compensated for the use of their work.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09), a senior member of the House Subcommittee on Aviation, today applauded the inclusion of the Seat Egress in Air Travel (SEAT) Act in a consensus bicameral, bipartisan Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reauthorization package, H.R. 302, that is expected to be considered by the House and Senate soon. The SEAT Act will require the FAA to establish minimum seat sizes and distances between rows to ensure the safety of the flying public.
