WASHINGTON – Congressmen Steve Cohen (TN-9) and Don Beyer (VA-8) today reintroduced the Billionaire Minimum Income Tax Act with 60 of their Congressional colleagues. The measure would prevent the wealthiest Americans from escaping federal income taxes or paying lower tax rates than ordinary Americans. President Biden proposed it in this year’s budget and called for Congress to act in this year’s State of the Union address.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9) today announced that 14 of his Community Projects, valued at $16,065,195, have been approved for funding by three Appropriations subcommittees. This is a major hurdle for projects Congressman Cohen asked for in this year’s 2024 Fiscal Year appropriations process and is subject to possible revision as the negotiation process moves forward for a final FY 2024 budget.

MEMPHIS – Today, Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) voted for the Inflation Reduction Act, landmark legislation to lower costs for American families, combat the climate crisis, reduce the deficit and finally ask the largest corporations to pay their fair share. The bill has already passed the Senate and President Biden is expected to soon sign it into law.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) tonight voted for nearly $40 billion in aid to Ukraine, including $8.7 billion to replenish stocks of U.S. equipment sent to the war-ravaged country.
