WASHINGTON – Before leaving Washington for Memphis, Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) reviewed the controversial Republican House Intelligence Committee memo ascribed to California Rep. Devin Nunes, as well as the Committee Democrats' response memo, and released the following statement:

"Because material in the Intelligence Committee memos remains classified, I can't say very much about them, but I can compare them in terms of persuasiveness, and by that measure, the Nunes memo is a dismal failure.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) issued the following statement on President Trump's reported comments at a meeting on immigration:

"Donald Trump should apologize to the countries he sullied with his disgraceful comments," said Congressman Cohen. "It is the President's job to act on behalf of our nation's best interests, and as President he must apologize.

A group of liberal House Democrats stepped up criticism of President Trump on Wednesday, introducing a "no confidence" resolution that officially questions Trump's fitness to serve as commander in chief.

It logs a laundry list of controversies swirling around the president — including his campaign's many contacts with Russian officials, his refusal to release his taxes, his verbal attacks on women and the press, and his firing of FBI Director James Comey.

"I am saddened by the terrible plane crash this evening in Mississippi that took the lives of five soldiers serving our country. My thoughts go out to the families of the deceased, and I hope for the survival of the others on board."
