[WASHINGTON, DC] – The United States Senate today confirmed Congressman Steve Cohen’s (TN-09) recommendation for the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) Board of Directors, Ronald Walter, by a vote of 86-12. Mr. Walter will now fill one of nine positions on the TVA Board. MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Ron Walter, WREG’s president and general manager, will fill one of nine positions on the TVA Board of Directors.

The U.S. Senate approved Wednesday Congressman Steve Cohen’s recommendation by a vote of 86 to 12.

“I was pleased to recommend Ron Walter to President Obama, as I have known Ron for nearly 40 years and know of no finer citizen of our community,” Cohen said. “He is diligent in all things, active and well-loved in the community for his genuine, caring attitude.”

[WASHINGTON, DC] – The nomination of Ronald Walter to the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) Board of Directors, recommended to President Obama by Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09), was unanimously approved today by the Senate Committee on Environment & Public Works. The United States Senate is now set to consider Walter’s nomination and, if confirmed, he will fill one of the nine positions on the TVA Board.

[WASHINGTON, DC] – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today introduced the Clean and Efficient Public Safety Vehicles Act of 2014 to help municipal public safety and law enforcement agencies save money on fuel costs and reduce their negative effects on our environment. Congressman Cohen’s bill will encourage local government agencies like fire and police departments to invest in technology that reduces both fuel consumption and improves environmental impacts by ensuring that a portion of their federal grant funds are used on emissions reduction.

[WASHINGTON, DC] – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) received the highest grade awarded to a member of Tennessee’s Congressional Delegation by the League of Conservation Voters (LCV) in 2013. In the 28 votes that the LCV’s 2013 National Environmental Scorecard graded, Congressman Cohen did not vote against the pro-environment position once, and his grade of 96% far exceeds the 23% average score of the entire Tennessee delegation.
