MEMPHIS – Today, Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) learned that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is warning residents near the Sterilization Services of Tennessee facility located at 2396 Florida Street in South Memphis about increased health risks from emissions of ethylene oxide.

In February 2007, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), the leading international network of scientists, for the first time concluded that global warming is "unequivocal" and that human activity is the main driver of it, causing most of the rise in temperatures since 1950. Specifically, deforestation and an overdependence on fossil fuels have played a large part in the decline of our atmosphere and the loss of numerous natural resources. The Nature Conservancy reports that deforestation is responsible for 20-25 percent of all carbon emissions.

MEMPHIS – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced that 13 more of his Community Projects totaling $22,595,000 have received the green light from two more Appropriations subcommittees. On Thursday, he announced two projects totaling $1,173,332 have received Appropriations subcommittee recommendations. All of his projects have been recommended for funding.
