MEMPHIS, TN -- Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced that the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis has been awarded $225,000 in funding from the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS). The funding will be used by the Health Science Center for clinical research related to neurological disorders.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressmen Steve Cohen (TN-09) and Danny Davis (IL-07) hosted a Congressional briefing in front of a standing-room-only audience on “The Crushing Burden of Private Student Loan Debt.”

“With students relying more and more on student loans to pay for the rising cost of college, Congress should be looking at ways to make it easier for students to attend college,” said Congressman Cohen. “I was pleased that so many young people attended today’s briefing so they can better understand the issues that may face them upon graduation.”

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today introduced legislation -- the Preference for Local Veteran Contractors Act -- he authored to give veteran-owned businesses preference for U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) projects. The veteran-owned businesses must be headquartered within 60 miles of where the VA project is scheduled to be completed.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today said Delta Air Lines’ string of broken promises is continuing with yet another announcement by the airlines to cut more flights at Memphis International Airport (MEM), taking effect in September. Delta plans to reduce its daily departures at MEM from 94 to 60. Last year, Delta announced it would no longer continue summer service of the Memphis to Amsterdam flight.
