The first, for $1,005,962, for Shelby County, is from the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Program. The second, to Casa Luz, is for $399,984.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced that the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation will receive a grant of $2,917,201 to address its evidence evaluation crime lab backlog. The funding comes after a significant time lapse in testing a Memphis victim’s rape kit led to the rape and murder of a Memphis kindergarten teacher.
