[WASHINGTON, DC] – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) announced today that Immuno Technologies, Inc., a medical research and development company headquartered in Memphis, has been awarded $1,000,000 in federal funding to further develop technology that can help doctors rapidly diagnose Lyme disease. This funding comes through the National Institutes of Health’s (NIH) Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant program.
[WASHINGTON, DC] – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) announced today that the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) in Memphis has been awarded a total of $795,651 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) for three projects.
“These funds will help continue the important work being done by the skilled researchers at the UT Health Science Center in Memphis,” said Congressman Cohen.

[MEMPHIS, TN] – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced that St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in downtown Memphis has been awarded an $8 million, seven-year contract with the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease (NIAID), which is part of the National Institutes of Health. The funding provided through this contract will support the Center of Excellence for Influenza Research and Surveillance (CEIRS) at St. Jude, one of only 5 such centers in the nation.
[WASHINGTON, DC] - Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) announced today that University of Memphis Assistant Professor of Chemistry William Alexander was awarded $49,937 in federal funding from the National Science Foundation (NSF) for a research project. The funding will be used to develop quantum chemical computational models able to accurately determine how hazardous chemicals interact with various natural and manmade materials surfaces present in domestic water systems.
