[MEMPHIS, TN] – While speaking at today’s 8th annual University of Memphis Freight Conference, Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) announced that the University has been selected by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) as the Southeast Regional Surface Transportation Workforce Center, along with nearly $1 million in federal funding to help launch the new Center. [MEMPHIS, TN] – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced that Southwest Tennessee Community College has won $4,041,439 in federal funding from the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) to develop, expand, and enhance innovative career training programs in the healthcare, transportation, and logistics industries. Today’s funding comes through the DOL’s Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College and Career Training (TAACCCT) Grant Program, a 4-year, $2 billion initiative signed into law by President Barack Obama.

[MEMPHIS, TN] – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced that Memphis International Airport will receive $1,125,000 in federal funding from the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT). This funding will support electrical system rehabilitation that will help extend the useful lives of runway lights and taxiways.
[MEMPHIS, TN] – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced that the City of Memphis was awarded $998,618 in Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) funding through the FY 2014 Port Security Grant Program. Under this same announcement, the Shelby County Government was awarded $5,000 in funding and Ergon Asphalt and Emulsions, Inc. Memphis was also awarded $24,999.
“This funding will help keep our city safe and grow the Memphis economy,” said Congressman Cohen.
