MEMPHIS – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced that St. Jude Children's Research Hospital will receive a $763,801 grant from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease for research targeting innate immune pathways and inflammatory cell death in cytokine-mediated diseases.
Congressman Cohen made the following statement:
"I'm pleased to see NIH funding supporting the critical research at St. Jude. This grant will underwrite research that will advance our understanding in immunology and ultimately improve health outcomes and save lives."
MEMPHIS -- Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today introduced the Equal Employment for All Act to protect job seekers from unfair discrimination from employers based on credit ratings. The legislation would protect prospective employees from being forced to disclose their credit history as part of an employer's application process. Specifically, the bill would prohibit employers from using credit checks and bankruptcy filings in the hiring process unless the position requires a national security clearance.

MEMPHIS – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09), a senior member of the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, today welcomed Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg to Memphis for discussions on the economic impact of the closure of the Hernando DeSoto Bridge. Congressman Cohen participated in the Secretary's roundtable discussion with stakeholders in the freight-hauling business at FedEx, joined the Secretary on an inspection of the damaged bridge section, and then spoke at a press conference with the Secretary.

UTHSC will receive $635,969 from the National Heart, Blood and Lung Institute for research on endothelial cells and $500,000 for nursing education for sexual assault examiners from the Health Resources and Services Administration.
