WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) received a 100 percent score from the government watchdog group Common Cause on Wednesday after it assessed 15 measures involving money in politics, voting rights, Net Neutrality, overturning the Supreme Court's Citizens United decision, presidential conflicts of interest and abuse of power, and redistricting reform. WASHINGTON -- As students across the U.S. return to school for the beginning of the new school year, U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) and Representative Steve Cohen (TN-09) introduced the School Bus Safety Act today to help keep students safe as they travel to and from school while also helping prevent accidents involving school buses.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) urged the Senate to include the Seat Egress in Air Travel (SEAT) Act in its version of legislation to reauthorize the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) before authorization expires on September 30, 2018. The bipartisan bill, which Congressman Cohen introduced with Congressman Adam Kinzinger (R-IL), would require the FAA to establish minimum sizes for seats and distances between rows to ensure that passenger safety is not put at risk by the recent shrinking of seat sizes.

WASHINGTON – Today, at a hearing of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee on which he serves as a senior member, Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) praised the U.S. Department of Transportation's selection of Memphis as center for aerial drone technology and noted the initial success last week of a drone demonstration.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced that the National Cancer Institute (NCI) has awarded a grant of more than $2.6 million to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. The grant will be used to create a catalog of cancer clonotype drug sensitivities with single-cell genome sequencing, furthering the progress of cancer research and expanding possibilities for treatment.

WASHINGTON -- Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced that the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases has awarded University of Memphis a grant of $189,929 for a project titled The Impact of Stress and Resilience on Obesity-Related Metabolic Complications in Adolescents.
