MEMPHIS – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced that St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital will receive a $682,433 grant from the National Cancer Institute for a project titled “Sustainability determinants of an intervention to identify clinical deterioration and improve childhood cancer survival in low-resource hospitals.”

MEMPHIS – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced that the University of Memphis will receive a $398,850 grant from the U.S. Department of Education’s Mental Health Service Professionals Demonstration Program to recruit and retain a diverse cohort of future school counselors focused on “high need” students of the Memphis and Shelby County Schools.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today noted that the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Office of Inspector General (OIG) has announced it is reviewing its own efforts in addressing conditions at the Peppertree Apartments in Memphis after longstanding complaints, and made the following statement:

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today introduced the Fort Pillow National Battlefield Park Study Act, legislation that would direct the Department of the Interior to conduct a resource study to determine whether the location of an infamous massacre of Black Union soldiers in the waning months of the Civil War qualify it as a National Park Service site.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09), the ranking member of the Transportation and Infrastructure Aviation Subcommittee, today announced that Memphis International Airport will receive a $14.8 million investment from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to modernize its 60-year-old terminal facilities and ensure modern day code compliance. The phased terminal development projects would ensure seismic resiliency and enhance ADA access.
