"Each November, we pause to pay tribute to and thank the brave men and women who have served our country in uniform. This year, we pay special attention to those who served in America's longest war in Afghanistan, and welcome them home.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today spoke from the House floor, endorsing the Build Back Better plan that will strengthen the nation's social safety net, invest in climate action, and cut taxes for the middle class.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) went to the House floor this evening to urge his Congressional colleagues to support the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) already passed in the Senate. Congressman Cohen has repeatedly pointed to the positive impacts this bill will have on Memphis and nationwide from economic growth, increased labor participation, and enhanced U.S. competitiveness.

MEMPHIS – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09), a senior member of the Judiciary Committee, today announced a $475,000 grant to Memphis and Shelby County to address sexual behavior problems in youth from the Department of Justice's Office of Juvenile Justice Delinquency Prevention.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09), a senior member of the Judiciary Committee, today spoke in favor of and voted to advance the Marijuana Opportunity Reinvestment and Expungement (MORE) Act from the Committee to a House floor vote. The measure removes cannabis from the list of federal controlled substances, raises revenue from sales to reinvest in communities disproportionately harmed by the war on drugs and expunges the records of federal criminal marijuana offenses.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) last night sent a letter to President Joe Biden asking the administration and National Institutes of Health to make monoclonal antibodies more readily available to patients with COVID-19. Additionally, he requested the revision of guidelines to prevent people who have chosen not to be vaccinated from being prioritized over people who are vaccinated against the coronavirus.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced that Southwest Tennessee Community College has received a $600,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Education's Predominantly Black Institutions Program to improve educational outcomes for African American male students.

MEMPHIS – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced that Memphis and Shelby County's continuum of care organization, the Community Alliance for the Homeless, will receive a grant of $3,444,180 from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for a youth homelessness prevention demonstration program.

MEMPHIS – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced that the Tri-State Community Health Center will receive a grant of $338,735 for primary care HIV prevention from the Department of Health and Human Services.

MEMPHIS – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced two grants from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) totaling $4,192,346 to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and to the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC).
The St. Jude grant for $1,077,000, from the National Cancer Institute, is for research on the progression of leukemia. The UTHSC grant for $3,115,346, from the Director's Office at NIH, is for radiobiology research.
