WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) announced that the U.S. Senate yesterday approved the nomination of Memphian V. Lynn Evans, CPA, to the Board of Directors of the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA). Congressman Cohen recommended Evans to President Obama for consideration. Evans will fill the position on the TVA Board currently held by Bishop William Graves who has reached the end of his second term on the Board.

D.C. -- Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today released the following statement in response to Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam’s decision not to operate a state-based healthcare exchange under the federal Affordable Care Act. An integral part of the Affordable Care Act includes the creation of health care exchanges to establish a marketplace for the purchase of affordable health insurance plans. States were meant to tailor their specific needs to a state-based exchange, but those who opt out will be obligated to have the federal government run an exchange for them:
