WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has awarded the University of Memphis $457,290 for alcohol research programs. The funds will be distributed via the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA).

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced that Buckman International – based in Memphis, TN – has been awarded a Presidential Green Chemistry Challenge Award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

“Buckman International has long been respected for its efforts to help protect our environment while also doing its best to create jobs in the Memphis region,” said Congressman Cohen. “The Presidential Green Chemistry Challenge Award is a prestigious recognition that should be a goal for all chemical companies.”

MEMPHIS, TN – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has awarded Le Bonheur Community Health and Well Being $2,896,416 to implement and test a comprehensive community-based care model to “close the loop” in the continuum of care for pediatric asthma patients in Memphis and Shelby County.

MEMPHIS, TN – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today encouraged local children to participate in First Lady Michelle Obama’s “Healthy Lunchtime Challenge.” The Challenge invites parents of kids ages 8-12 to submit an original recipe for a lunch that is nutritious and delicious. All entrants have the chance to win a trip to Washington D.C. and the opportunity to be invited to attend a Kids’ “State Dinner” at the White House in August, where a selection of the winning healthy recipes will be served.

The new federal funds will be administered by the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS).
