Washington, DC -- Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9) will hold a town hall meeting on Thursday, February 22, 2007 at 6:30 p.m. at the National Civil Rights Museum at 450 Mulberry Street in Memphis. Congressman Cohen will be joined by special guest Congressman John Conyers, Jr., Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee.

Washington, DC -- Today the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Methamphetamine Remediation Research Act, sponsored by Tennessee Congressman Bart Gordon. The legislation will help law enforcement locate and shut down methamphetamine labs and supports essential research to determine the best way to clean up old labs and eliminate the chemicals that can harm the environment and lead to significant health problems.

Memphis, TN -- Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9) will cut the ribbon for the opening of the exhibit INSIDE AFRICA at the Pink Palace in Memphis tonight at 6:15 p.m. INSIDE AFRICA explores the many facets of Africa – its peoples, its lands, its rich cultural history and its stories – and provides a bridge to contemporary American life.

Memphis, TN -- Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9) will tour the Memphis Veterans Administration Medical Center on Friday, January 26, 2007, beginning at 10:00 a.m. CST.

Congressman Cohen will meet with Director and CEO, Mrs. Patricia O. Pittman, and then will be escorted through the facility by Director Pittman so that he may meet with Veterans and staff.

The Congressman will enter the property at Bed Tower entrance located at Pauline and Jefferson Avenue.

Washington, DC-- Congressman Steve Cohen completed his first full week on Capitol Hill, casting affirmative votes to raise the minimum wage as well as for implementation of the 9/11 commission recommendations, advancement of stem cell research, and legislation to bring down the cost of prescription drugs for every American senior. Congressman Cohen voted last week for the ethics reform package.

Freshman Congressman Steve Cohen (D-Memphis) was appointed to the Transportation Committee.
