WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09), a senior member of the House Judiciary Committee, today supported the introduction of two articles of impeachment against President Donald J. Trump. The articles, to be debated later this week in the Judiciary Committee, charge the President with abuse of power and obstruction of Congress.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09), a senior member of the House Judiciary Committee, today questioned the counsel for the House Judiciary Committee and the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence on the evidence collected during the investigation into President Trump's abuse of power.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today voted for, and the House passed, the Voting Rights Advancement Act, which restores protections of voting rights gutted by a 2013 Supreme Court decision. As Chairman of the House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights and Civil Liberties, Congressman Cohen conducted several hearings on this bill, including one at the University of Memphis School of Law in September. Congressman Cohen spoke in favor of the measure before it passed this morning. See that speech here.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced that St. Jude Children's Research Hospital will receive a $695,409 grant from the National Cancer Institute for cancer research.

Congressman Cohen made the following statement:

"I'm pleased to announce that St. Jude will receive this important funding to continue its research into childhood cancers at the nation's premier childhood cancer research hospital. This critical funding will permit St. Jude to make new discoveries, improve therapies, and support the hospital's dedicated employees."

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced that the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) will receive a $380,000 grant from the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute for research on diabetic vascular disease.

Congressman Cohen made the following statement:

"Diabetes is more prevalent in Memphis and higher than the national average, so research into any aspect of the disease is good for Memphians. This research will strengthen our Memphis medical school and support critical research to fight this devastating disease."
