WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today wrote to the chairman and ranking member of the House Ways and Means Committee asking for reconsideration of a provision in a pending GOP tax bill that would end Historic Preservation Tax credits.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) joined colleagues representing districts from Hawaii to South Carolina on Tuesday, an election day for some governors and mayors around the country, to promote the Weekend Voting Act.

"We need to do everything we can to increase turnout and truly make democracy work and to make it a beacon for the rest of the world," Cohen said. "Making voting days convenient for more citizens is the right thing to do."

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) introduced a bill today requiring the president to release all documents that can and should be released pertaining to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy in 1963.

"Despite the 1992 passage of a Congressionally mandated October 26, 2017, deadline requiring the President of the United States to make a determination about what documents can and should be released to the public regarding President John F. Kennedy's assassination, the current president failed to comply," Cohen said.

WASHINGTON – At a House Judiciary Committee markup, Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) called on the Committee Chairman to schedule a hearing on a bill setting the standards for firing special counsels, including Special Counsel Robert Mueller, who is pursuing an investigation of possible Trump campaign collusion with Russia in last year's election. He said the bill, H.R. 3771, the Special Counsel Integrity Act, and the issue, are clearly within the jurisdiction of the committee. See his committee remarks here.
