The National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders, a division of HHS, granted the new award to Dr. Kristin Hamre, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Anatomy and Neurobiology at the UT-HSC College of Medicine. This grant will fund biological research centered on the interaction between genetics and the nervous system being directed by Dr. Hamre.
The National Institute of Allergy and Neurological Disorders gave a new award in the amount of $321,563 to Dr. Lawrence Reiter, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Anatomy Neurology at UT-HSC. Dr. Reiter’s research focuses mainly on the study of genes related to autism and autism spectrum disorders.
Dr. Taylor’s research aims to understand how the innate immune system recognize and respond to pathogens and how mutations in these sensing systems affect the development of infectious, inflammatory, and autoimmune diseases in humans.
