WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today said a new report conducted by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) on racial disparities in marijuana arrests across the country is proof positive current policies toward marijuana must be reformed.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today said Delta Air Lines’ string of broken promises is continuing with yet another announcement by the airlines to cut more flights at Memphis International Airport (MEM), taking effect in September. Delta plans to reduce its daily departures at MEM from 94 to 60. Last year, Delta announced it would no longer continue summer service of the Memphis to Amsterdam flight.

MEMPHIS, TN -- Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) announced today that St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital will receive over $430,000 in research grants from the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) and that the Memphis Housing Authority will receive $69,000 from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital will receive $437,500 to develop a greater understanding of cellular mechanisms of positive symptoms of schizophrenia. The grant is provided through NIMH’s Mental Health Research Grants program.
MEMPHIS, TN -- Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) announced today that HUD will provide $358,506 in grants to the Memphis VA Medical Center to offer permanent supportive housing to homeless veterans.
“It is a tragedy that so many of our veterans in Memphis and throughout the country are homeless,” said Congressman Cohen. “These grants will allow us to give back to the veterans who gave so much for us.”
The grants available through the Memphis VA Medical Center will be awarded to sixty-five homeless veterans in the Memphis area.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The House of Representatives today approved an amendment authored by Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) on the controversial Keystone XL Pipeline. The amendment would require TransCanada – which would own and operate the pipeline – to submit its oil spill response plan and any updates to the plan to the Governors of each state in which the proposed pipeline operates.
