WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Congressman Steve Cohen (D-TN-9) today announced that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has awarded the University of Tennessee Health Science Center a grant totaling $209,504 for the development and exploration of eliminating anesthesia confounds in experimental strokes. The new federal funding will be distributed by the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Strokes (NINDS).

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Steve Cohen (D-TN-9) today announced that the U.S. Department of Transportation has awarded the Memphis Area Transit Authority (MATA) a grant worth $7 million to upgrade its fleet of diesel buses through the purchase of 15 new hybrid-electric buses. The federal award will be distributed by the Federal Transit Authority (FTA) as part of its “State of Good Repair” initiative.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Steve Cohen (D-TN-9) today sent a letter to the Director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy urging him to reconsider how to approach the personal use of marijuana and the use of marijuana for medicinal purposes as his office prepares its 2012 National Drug Control Strategy. The Memphis Congressman also discusses other important drug policies in his letter.
