WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9) today applauded the passage of his TVA Salary Transparency Act, which would reinstate and modernize the Tennessee Valley Authority’s annual reporting requirement to Congress on its management structure and on the compensation of its top executives and managers. Specifically, the legislation would correct a change enacted in 1995 that removed a requirement to disclose the management structure and salaries of TVA executives as part of legislation to eliminate antiquated federal agency reporting requirements.

The IRP process is a comprehensive study projecting how the nation’s largest federal utility meets energy needs.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9) today announced that Tennessee will be receiving $68,117,175 in Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) funding, supplemented by the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) that he alone in the current Tennessee Congressional delegation supported.

The IIJA portion of the LIHEAP funding totals $1,701,882.

Overview

The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) is a federally funded initiative designed to assist low-income households, seniors, and others in meeting their immediate home energy needs. The program helps people lower their home heating and energy bills by directly offsetting costs with their local utility provider, ensuring that they can maintain a safe and healthy living environment during the coldest and hottest months of the year. While LIHEAP is funded at the federal level, it is administered locally by state and community agencies.
