WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today spoke from the House floor and then voted against a Republican-sponsored resolution to terminate the requirement established by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for proof of COVID-19 vaccination for foreign travelers to the United States. The vote on passage of the resolution was 227 to 201.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced that the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) will receive a grant of $231,000 to study extracellular vesicles from the National Institute on Aging.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced that the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) will receive $3,148,012 from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to reimburse expenses it incurred in ramping up to address the COVID-19 pandemic threat. The funding will pay for, among other things, the rental of tents used for testing at the center’s parking garages, protective clothing and equipment, additional oxygen supplies and freezers for storing vaccines.

WASHINGTON -- Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced a $512,103 grant to the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) to study the role of sensory receptors in Angelman Syndrome, a rare neurological disease affecting balance, motor impairment and seizures. The grant is from the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced that the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services has awarded Regional One Medical Center funding for 2.33 new medical residency positions through the Department of Health and Human Services Direct Graduate Medical Education Program. It has also awarded the medical center funding for 2.33 positions and its Indirect Graduate Medical Education Program.
