Dodaro of the U.S. Government Accountability Office seeking a review of the federal government’s costs associated with treating patients who used asbestos-contaminated Johnson & Johnson baby powder and became ill because of their exposure to this known carcinogen.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today spoke from the House floor in favor of and then voted for the Right to Contraception Act.

The vote on passage was 228 to 195.

In his floor remarks, Congressman Cohen said in part:

There are some in Congress who want to repeal the last 50 years’ worth of advances in reproductive rights for women, whether it’s through legislation or by cutting funding for vital women’s health services such as Planned Parenthood. I will continue to stand with women and make sure that their right to reproductive choice is protected.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) plans to vote on the Infant Formula Supplemental Appropriations Act tonight to address the acute shortage of infant formula caused by a supply disruption in Michigan. This supplemental appropriations bill provides $28 million in emergency funding for the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), providing FDA the resources it needs to address the current urgent infant formula shortage and to help prevent it from ever happening again.
