WASHINGTON -- Congressmen Steve Cohen (TN-9) and Rick Crawford (AR-01), along with U.S. Senators John Boozman (R-AR) and Tom Cotton (R-AR), have introduced legislation to create a commemorative coin in remembrance of the greatest maritime disaster in U.S. history – the sinking of the Sultana steamboat off Memphis in 1865.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9) will hold a press conference on Tuesday, March 26, to highlight the $1,926,600 in community project funding he secured this year through the appropriations process for the Memphis Police Department. WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9) today announced a $611,240 grant to the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) to study the regulation of kidney function and blood pressure in aging populations. The funding comes from the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases.

Markey (D-Mass.), chair of the Senate Environment and Public Works (EPW) Subcommittee on Clean Air, Climate, and Nuclear Safety, and today urged Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) Chair Joe Ritch and President Jeffrey Lyash not to move forward with a new 1,500 megawatt gas plant and 122-mile pipeline based on an incomplete and insufficient environmental impact statement, which has been called out directly by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for its inadequacy.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9) today announced that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will provide $3,355,166 for repairs to damage to the Memphis Light, Gas, and Water (MLGW) Division headquarters building and garage sustained by winter storms in February 2021.
