WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today voted for the Affordable Insulin Now Act, addressing the high cost of a disease that is far too prevalent in Shelby County, affecting approximately one in nine adults.
The vote on passage was 232 to 193.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) and Senator Kirsten Gillibrand led 25 of their colleagues in a letter urging Department of Transportation (DOT) Secretary Pete Buttigieg to swiftly execute the provisions from their Stop Underrides Act, which passed in the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. The legislation requires the creation of a rule within a year of enactment mandating trucks to have strengthened rear underride guards to stop cars from sliding underneath trucks in the event of a crash.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced that the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), which only he and Congressman Jim Cooper (TN-05) in Tennessee's Congressional delegation supported, will provide $655,000 for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to dredge Wolf River Harbor.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today led a letter to President Biden asking him to release the remaining records related to the 1963 assassination of President John F. Kennedy. The letter was signed by Representatives Anna Eshoo (CA-18) and James McGovern (MA-03).
The letter reads in part:

WASHINGTON -- Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09), with bipartisan co-sponsors Congressmen Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA-1) and Emanuel Cleaver (D-MO-5), today introduced the Cerebral Palsy Research Program Act which would create a cerebral palsy research program within the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and provide the first-ever dedicated source of federal funding for cerebral palsy research.
WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09), Chairman of the Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights, and Civil Liberties, today addressed the House of Representatives and urged passage of his bill, the Prohibiting Punishment for Acquitted Conduct Act. The bill later passed the House on a vote of 405 to 12.
Congressmen Cohen and Kelly Armstrong (N.D., at large) introduced the measure last year to end the unjust practice of judges increasing sentences based on conduct for which a defendant has not been convicted.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09), a senior member of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, announced today that the Biden-Harris Administration has recommended $46 million for the Memphis Innovation Corridor Project, a proposed eight-mile bus rapid transit route connecting downtown to the University of Memphis and providing convenient and reliable access to jobs, education, health services, and civic centers.
