WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) voted for and the House passed a resolution, H. Con. Res. 24, expressing a sense of Congress that the report of Special Counsel Robert Mueller into Russian interference in the 2106 Presidential Election should be made public. The vote was 420 to 0.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) announced today that the University of Tennessee Health Science Center will be receiving a $609,360 grant from the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute to conduct vascular research.
Congressman Cohen made the following statement:
"This grant from one of the premier National Institutes of Health will help keep the University of Tennessee's medical school in Memphis at the cutting edge in medical research. I have long supported the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, and I am pleased it is funding this important research."

WASHINGTON – Congressmen Steve Cohen (D-TN) and John Ratcliffe (R-TX) today introduced legislation to protect consumers from unfair taxes on digital goods and services like those purchased over the internet or on smartphones. The Digital Goods and Services Tax Fairness Act would ensure that digital goods and services are not taxed at a higher rate than their tangible counterparts.
"Digital goods and services have become a driving force in our national economy," said Congressman Cohen. "We should make sure consumers are treated fairly and are not taxed unfairly."
WASHINGTON – Congressmen Steve Cohen (D-TN), a senior member of the House Subcommittee on Aviation, today called on the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to ground 737 Max 8 planes until it can confirm that they are safe to fly. The company says the statements were not meant to be taken literally.
WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09), the chairman of the House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights and Civil Liberties, today presided at a hearing on the history and enforcement of the Voting Rights Act of 1965.

Tennessee lawmakers are considering a resolution to express support for a bill in Congress that would require TVA's board of directors to hold open meetings.
State Sen. Ken Yager, of Kingston, is asking for a Senate resolution to support a bill in Congress to
require TVA to hold open meetings that the public can attend.
State Sen. Ken Yager, R-Kingston, explained Senate Joint Resolution 192 in a Senate committee meeting this week, in which the resolution won unanimous approval.
WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today voted for, and the House passed, H.R. 1 – the For the People Act – to restore our democracy and clean up corruption. The vote was 234 to 193.
The comprehensive bill, which Congressman Cohen cosponsored, provides for automatic voter registration, ends inappropriate voter roll purges, restores voting rights to those who have completed their criminal sentences and reforms the campaign finance system.
