“I was very pleased to accept this award on behalf of the 12,541 supporters of the Humane Society in the 9th District,” said Congressman Cohen. “Animal rights has always been one of my highest priorities as a legislator, and I’ve worked hard in the U.S. Congress to pass laws that protect and respect animals.”

“These monies will fund projects that reduce total energy use and fossil fuel emissions and improve energy efficiency nationwide,” said Congressman Cohen. “Most importantly, this will continue to create and save jobs in the 9th District. I was proud to support and vote for the recovery bill, and I’m thankful that the Obama Administration continues to work hard to put our money to work quickly creating new jobs, greening our cities and lifting us from this economic morass.”

“These monies provide a long overdue investment in the rehabilitation of public housing properties in Memphis and Shelby County,” said Congressman Cohen. “This is another example of the recovery plan working for the people of the 9th District and infusing our community with much-needed capital. I was proud to vote for the ARRA and I am confident that this funding will create jobs and greatly improve the conditions of our public housing.”

“On this anniversary, we need to remember the sacrifices of our fighting men and women and do what we can to honor their memory and their wishes,” said Congressman Cohen. “It is a travesty that our laws do not allow a soldier’s wishes to be honored – especially something as simple, yet meaningful, as overseeing the disposition arrangements.”

“President Obama has picked them to make the Final Four,” said Congressman Cohen. “He was correct. He picked them to lose to Louisville; he was wrong. We will do well. Go Tigers.”
