WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Steve Cohen (D-TN) today announced the U.S. Department of Transportation has awarded $16,710,850 to Memphis International Airport for terminal and taxiway improvements, overall upgrades, and snow removal equipment for next winter.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Steve Cohen (D-TN) today introduced legislation -- the Honor the WISH Act -- he authored to enable Soldiers, Sailors, Marines and Airmen to determine who they want to organize their funeral arrangements. Under current law, funeral arrangements can only be made by a spouse, blood relative or adoptive parent.

“As the economic engine of the Mid-South, it is crucial that Memphis International continues to make upgrades to maintain its status as the world’s premier cargo airport,” said Congressman Cohen. “These new federal monies will provide the airport with the necessary funding to make significant upgrades throughout the facility.”

The federal funds will be used to improve terminal buildings and taxiways and make security enhancements. The funds will also be used to acquire snow removal equipment for next winter.
