WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Steve Cohen (D-TN-9) today voted to support the America COMPETES Reauthorization Act of 2010, which makes investments in science, innovation and education to strengthen U.S. scientific and economic leadership. The measure would also help create jobs with innovative technology loan guarantees for small and mid-sized manufacturers.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9) today announced the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has awarded the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) $307,100 for cancer treatment research.

“The University of Tennessee Health Science Center has a long history of helping Memphians and other Tennesseans fight cancer,” said Congressman Cohen. “These new federal funds will help provide the Health Science Center with the funds it needs to continue its cancer treatment research and help people fight cancer.”

The website – www.myskillsmyfuture.org – helps the unemployed match their current skills to new careers and uncover what training is needed to transition from one job to another.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9) today announced that St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital was awarded $435,000 from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. The new federal funding will help finance continued research into the effects of molecular control of TCR signaling and function on the immune system.
