WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Congressman Steve Cohen (D-TN-9) today announced the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) has awarded $200,000 to the University of Memphis’ Karnak Hypostyle Hall Project.

“The Karnak Hypostyle Hall Project seeks to document one of the greatest architectural wonders of its era,” said Congressman Cohen. “With this grant, the University of Memphis will continue to be a national leader in the study of the architecture and culture of Ancient Egypt.”

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Steve Cohen (D-TN-9) today announced the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis was awarded two federal grants worth more than $500,000 for research into oral, heart and vascular diseases.

“The University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis is known across the country and the world for its outstanding research facilities,” said Congressman Cohen. “These funds will help us investigate the causes of and how best to prevent oral, heart and vascular diseases.”

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Steve Cohen (D-TN-9) today announced the National Center for Research Sources has awarded St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital $2,772,027 to purchase a state-of-the-art MRI scanner for research into catastrophic diseases. The federal funds were made available through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Steve Cohen (D-TN-9) today announced a Memphis medical research company – Translational Sciences Inc. – has been awarded $167,685 from the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI) for research into novel methods for dissolving blood clots.

“Memphis has some of the best medical research companies in the country,” said Congressman Cohen. “These federal funds will be used to conduct research that will hopefully save lives across Memphis and the country.”
