WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09), Chairman of the House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights and Civil Liberties, today voted for a resolution directing the President to terminate the use of U.S. armed forces to engage in hostilities in or against Iran without first getting the consent of Congress. The vote reasserts the Constitution's provision that Congress has the sole authority to declare war and works to bring the President into compliance with his obligations under the War Powers Act of 1973.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today voted for the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) that modernizes the trade arrangements between the three countries by updating and improving provisions of the 1994 North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). USMCA was made significantly stronger than the text that the President originally presented thanks to months of tireless work by Speaker Pelosi, Chairman Neal and the USMCA Working Group.
WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today expressed deep disappointment at University of Memphis basketball star James Wiseman's decision to withdraw from the University of Memphis program to prepare for the NBA. He blamed the NCAA's completely unreasonable eligibility ruling, and the decision that the freshman would have to donate $11,500 and miss 12 games, for the unfortunate turn of events.

The Shelby County Board of Education will receive $12,163,727 and Porter-Leath will receive $1,185,656 to further their work in early childhood development.

Trump. The President has now been impeached for abuse of power and obstruction of Congress and will be tried on those charges in the Senate.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today commended Jayda and Anaya Murray of Cordova for winning the Congressional App Competition for the 9th Congressional District of Tennessee with their Safety U app. The app presents a series of unsafe situations an entering freshman might encounter at college and offers a range of options for dealing with them.
