WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced that the National Eye Institute (NEI), an agency of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, has awarded a grant worth $375, 000 to the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) for vision research. Specifically, the research will focus on development of new blood vessels for the retina.

MEMPHIS, TN – Upon learning this morning that Delta Air Lines has decided not to continue summer service of the Memphis to Amsterdam flight, as was promised, Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) expressed disappointment and frustration with Delta’s growing string of broken promises.
MEMPHIS, TN – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today joined with AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps (NCCC) to host a presentation on federally-funded community service programs. The presentation was held to benefit non-profit, community and neighborhood organizations that do not have the capacity to apply for and receive federal funding or grants.

MEMPHIS, TN – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced that monthly Social Security and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits for nearly 62 million Americans will increase 1.7 percent in 2013. The 1.7 percent cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) will begin with benefits that more than 56 million Social Security beneficiaries receive in January 2013. Increased payments to more than 8 million SSI beneficiaries will begin on December 31, 2012.
