WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9), a senior member of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, today announced the $7,294,019 allocated for the Memphis-based tri-state region from the Federal Transit Administration (FTA). The funding is the result of investments authorized by the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) that only Congressman Cohen among current members of the Tennessee Congressional delegation supported. The amount represents 2024 Fiscal Year spending from October 1 through March 1, 2024.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9), the Ranking Member of the Aviation Subcommittee, today spoke from the House floor in favor of another short-term extension of Federal Aviation Administration programs and authorities. However, he also noted that continued short-term extensions of the FAA’s existing authorities postpones implementation of carefully drafted legislation intended to address a host of aviation priorities for the next five years.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9) today voted once again for a continuing budget resolution before the looming March 1 deadline for a partial federal government shutdown so that negotiators can finalize full-year spending bills through September 30.
The vote on passage was 320 to 99.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9) received the only “A” on the National Parks Action Fund Congressional Scorecard for the first half of the 118th Congress among members of Tennessee’s Congressional delegation based on his voting record, the fund announced today. Seven of the eight other House members from Tennessee received “F” scores, the fund reported.

MEMPHIS – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9) today announced that Christ Community Health Services Inc. will receive a grant of $3,354,237 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for its ongoing work meeting the needs of the medically underserved.

The letter reads in part:

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9), the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe Parliamentary Assembly’s Special Representative on Political Prisoners, today wrote to President Biden urging him to honor imprisoned Russian dissident and journalist Vladimir Kara-Murza with a Presidential Medal of Freedom.
