The Cohen amendment was passed unanimously and was included as part of HR 3246, the Advanced Vehicle Technology Act that passed the House today.
“To reduce our reliance on foreign oil, we need to invest in every possible alternative fuel, from biofuels, ethanol, and even compressed air. Cars and trucks that run on this technology are already being manufactured overseas. I believe that with the right amount of federal investment, and good old Tennessee ingenuity, we can make this technology work even more efficiently for Americans,” Congressman Cohen said.

“I was spurred to introduce this resolution by the devastating rate of infant mortality in the Ninth District. It is a tragedy that African-American babies in Shelby County die at three times the nation's infant mortality rate.. We must do more to make sure that women have the prenatal care they need to deliver healthy children – and that starts by improving access to health clinics and recruiting the best and brightest medical students to be inner city doctors,” Congressman Cohen said.
