WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Congressman Steve Cohen (D-TN-9) today hosted a telephone Town Hall on Medicare and Social Security for approximately 60 minutes between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. CT. More than 8,100 constituents from the 9th Congressional District participated in the call.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Steve Cohen (D-TN-9) today announced the White House and the U.S. Department of Education have selected Booker T. Washington High School of Memphis, Tennessee and five other schools for this year’s Race to the Top High School Commencement Challenge. As part of the next step of the Commencement Challenge, the Get Schooled Foundation will now work with the Memphis High School and other schools to produce a video for the online voting portion of the challenge.
Congressional leaders are negotiating on a budget bill to keep the government running but it is possible that they will not reach an agreement before the current bill runs out at the end of this week. The government will shut down Friday at midnight if they fail to come up with a bill that can pass Congress and that the President can sign.
