Congressman Steve Cohen remembers the late Congressman Tom Lantos (CA-12). Congressman Lantos, the only Holocaust survivor ever to serve in Congress, died Monday of complications from cancer of the esophagus at Bethesda Naval Medical Center in Maryland. He was 80. He had served the 12th District of California since 1980.

Congressman Cohen has announced that assistance is now available for storm victims from both the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

“Tobacco use continues to put a huge strain on the health care industry, causing hundreds of thousands of deaths each year in the U.S.,” said Congressman Cohen. “I am extremely grateful that St. Jude has committed members of their all-star scientific research team to investigate new treatments for nicotine addiction, and the HHS should be commended for recognizing their efforts.”
