MEMPHIS – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9) today announced two grants, totaling $1,446,200, to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The first, for $263,200, is for Memphis STEM-M Ambassadors education and outreach program, from the National Institute of General Medical Sciences. The second, for $1,183,000, is for gene editing research involving sickle cell disease, from the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute.
MEMPHIS – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9) today announced that St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital will receive a grant of $1,090,000 from the National Cancer Institute for research leading to improved outcomes for high-risk acute leukemia.

One, for $500,500, is for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital for a project entitled “Mechanisms of Sonic Hedgehog Signal Transduction” from the National Institute of General Medical Sciences. The second, for $423,500, is for research on periodontal ligament regeneration, from the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research.
WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9) today cosponsored the Lowering Drug Costs for American Families Act with Congressmen Frank Pallone (NJ-6), Bobby Scott (VA-3) and Richie Neal (MA-1) and will also cosponsor the Affordable Insulin Now Act introduced by Congresswoman Angie Craig (MN-2).

Juneteenth recognizes the anniversary of June 19, 1865, when Union soldiers arrived in Galveston, Texas, to inform enslaved Texans that “all slaves are free” and that the Civil War had ended.
