WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09), Chairman of the Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights, and Civil Liberties, today spoke from the floor in support of and then voted for the Federal Extreme Risk Protection Order Act. The measure establishes nationwide access to extreme risk protection orders through the federal courts to ensure that those who pose a threat to themselves or others do not have access to firearms.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today went to the House floor to denounce a Republican talking point suggesting that the Second Amendment right to bear arms, including assault rifles, is a "God-given right." WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09), a longtime member of the Congressional Animal Protection Caucus, today received the Humane Society of the United States "Humane Horseman of the Year" Award for his efforts to end the intentional harm to Tennessee Walking Horses, called soring, used to force horses to perform a pain-based artificially high-stepping gait known as the "Big Lick" that wins prizes at some horse shows, and for his work on improving conditions for wild horses in the Western states.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced that the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) will receive a $426,364 grant from the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke for research on neuronal scaling in the developing cerebellum.
