The “I AM A MAN” Awards are presented each year to recognize outstanding individuals who promote excellence in the field of economic justice and equality. Past award recipients include President Bill Clinton and Congresswoman Maxine Waters (CA-35).
Other panelists include Arnold Perl, Chairman of the Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority; Larry Cox, President and CEO of the Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority; and John Moore, President and CEO of the Memphis Regional Chamber.
The Memphis Regional Chamber’s Breakfast Forum Series is the chamber’s monthly breakfast networking event which focuses on economic development.

During his time in Washington, he has won the praise of thousands of individual veterans and high accolades from national veterans' organizations. I have been proud to support each of his initiatives in the 110th Congress.”

“Today marks the fifth anniversary of the start of the war in Iraq. Military families still need our unwavering support and friendship during these times of hardship, so I encourage everyone to reach out to their friends, family members and neighbors with loved ones currently serving in Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere around the world.
The grant will fund Dr. Janet F. Partridge, an Assistant Member of the Department of Biochemistry, in her research of the establishment of heterochromatin, a tightly packaged form of DNA. Dr. Partridge has been studying how the heterochromatin is formed, and is currently working to determine how mutations in the heterochromatin contribute to cancer and Down syndrome.
“A key component to President Lyndon Johnson’s Great Society, Head Start is one of the longest-running programs in our nation’s history that effectively assists lower-income and impoverished children,” said Congressman Cohen. “Increased funding for Head Start and other early childhood education and assistance programs was one of the top priorities of the New Congress and I believe we are making great strides.”
