WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) received notice today of a Department of Health and Human Services grant of $11.8 million to the Shelby County Board of Education for its Head Start programs and made the following statement:

"Head Start is one of the best programs for young children whose parents have limited means. Its proven record shows it gives these children a shot at the American Dream."

WASHINGTON -- Congressman Cohen (TN-09) was elected by acclamation to the powerful Democratic Steering and Policy Committee this evening for the new Congress that convenes in January by Democratic Congressional colleagues from the 7th Region which encompasses Tennessee, Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama, South Carolina, North Carolina, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. Congressman Cohen has served as a member of the committee in an appointed capacity since January 2017 when he was named to it by House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi.
