Washington, DC -- Today Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) announced the Federal Aviation grant award in the amount of $7,277,015.00 to the Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority for construction of a deicing containment facility, construction of a taxiway, improvements to the terminal building, runway rehabilitation, taxiway rehabilitation, and updating the Airport Master Plan Study. Specifically,

Washington, DC -- Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) introduced an amendment today to H.R. 1401, the Rail and Public Transportation Security Act of 2007. The amendment would establish a program to coordinate with state and local governments to minimize the need for toxic inhalation hazardous materials to be routed through our communities. The amendment passed the House by a comfortable margin.

Washington, DC-- Congressman Steve Cohen completed his first full week on Capitol Hill, casting affirmative votes to raise the minimum wage as well as for implementation of the 9/11 commission recommendations, advancement of stem cell research, and legislation to bring down the cost of prescription drugs for every American senior. Congressman Cohen voted last week for the ethics reform package.

Washington, DC -- Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced today that the House Democratic Steering Committee approved second committee assignments for freshmen Members. Freshman Congressman Steve Cohen (D-Memphis) was appointed to the Transportation Committee. Congressman Cohen stated, “This appointment is vital for District 9 which is one of the nation’s top transportation and distribution hubs, a great aerotropolis which serves the nation and world.
